Frederick Copeland was born in Chicago, Ill. on October 13, 1924. He graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill in 1943. Following graduation, Copeland volunteered for the 10th Mountain Division and was initially assigned to the 90th Infantry Regiment before transfer to Company G of the 85th Infantry. He trained at both Camp Hale, Colo. and Camp Swift, Tex. before combat duty in Italy. Copeland was wounded in action in the Spring of 1945 during the battle of Mount Belvedere. He died i...
